Our Saints Peter & Paul Orthodox Church of Windber, Pennsylvania (Richland Twp.) is an active and growing parish of The American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese. Started by devout Christians who traced their roots back to the Carpathian Mountain region of the old Austro-Hungarian Empire, the parish is now comprised of members from many ethnic backgrounds and all our services are conducted almost exclusively in English. We are a parish for those of all ages, ethnicities and races, for both families and singles who are searching for true worship and fellowship in a church family. Visit us and experience the love, mercy and compassion of God through the teachings of Holy Scripture and the Sacred Teachings and Traditions of the Orthodox Christian Faith.
We invite all to get to know about us and our parish through this web site and to join us in worship and in fellowship. And we invite all Orthodox Christians, who properly prepare themselves, to join our family in receiving the Sacrament of the Eucharist at the Divine Liturgies.
And again, as Philip said to Nathaniel, "Come and See!"
May the Grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Love of God the Father, and the Communion of the Holy Spirit always be with you!
NOTE: We are an "Old Calendar" Church as we still use the Julian Calendar to determine all the Feast Days of the Church. There is a 13 day difference between the Julian Calendar and the Gregorian Calendar. Thus, in our parish, we celebrate the Feast of the Nativity of our Lord (Christmas) on January 7th according to the Gregorian Calendar, although it is December 25 on the Julian Calendar.
Our celebration of the "Feast of Feasts" - Pascha (Easter) is celebrated with all Orthodox Christian Churches worldwide, which however may be different from the rest of Christendom. For an explanation of the differing dates of Easter, please visit our Diocesan Web-site www.acrod.org under "Religious Education" - "Ask Father: Questions & Answers on Orthodoxy."
